My multi-talented hair stylists celebrated their son’s 1st birthday a few weeks ago using “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” theme. It turned out so beautifully, I wanted to share pictures. My favorite thing about this party is that the decorations are so simple, yet make such a statement.
They used paper lanterns hung from the ceiling to create their very own caterpillar…
…and commemorated Lennon’s first year with this adorable banner with his monthly picture.
Simple hydrangeas in a vase with blue rocks, for color, and a caterpillar toy adorned a side table.
Food signs made from images from the book, marked the hors d’oeuvres.
Cupcakes made up the caterpillars body and served as treats for the guests.
The head was a small cake made especially for Lennon to enjoy.
I think he liked it!
The guests received snack bags of grapes and cheddar bunnies clipped with a decorated clothespin to look like butterflies…
…and their own butterfly net as party favors.
This beautiful party shows how you can use a book or favorite character as your inspiration for decorations, favors, and even food.
What inspiration have you used for a kid’s party?

This is so cute. I love the snack bags.
SO cute! All of it. I especially like the paper lantern caterpillar though.

Love it, beautifully done. We are doing the same theme for our little one’s 1st birthday and I actually had got the butterfly nets as well for favors but was wondering when you put inside of them? I couldn’t tell from the pic! Awesome job!
