I promise that this is the last post about wire hangers…unless I find another really cool use for them.
I wrote here and here about the abundance of wire hangers I have and how to recycle them. I also provided some ideas I found on Pinterest and other sources for upcycling hangers. Who knew these mundane household items were so multi-talented?
Well after sharing all of the neat ideas, I decided I could really use an octopus dryer, flip flop holder. So, I used the tutorila I found on Epbot. If you are like me, you have more than 1 pair and they take up valuable real estate in my over the door shoe organizer. So, I grabbed a few hangers from the laundry room and my trusty, rusty wire cutters for this super easy project.
First thing I learned is that my trusty, rusty wire cutters are more rusty than trusty. They were not strong enough to cut through the wire. However, they did create a stress point that allowed me to bend the hanger at the fracture until it broke…easy enough.
Next, I bent the hanger in the shape that I wanted (I like to call it the “flexing my muscle pose”) and used the wire cutters to help shape the curly-Q at the end. Then I added bows made of ribbon for a little added cuteness.
Voila! This is how you make a super easy flip flop holder…and prevent wire hangers from consuming our landfills.
I think I’ll start a club, “Save the Hangers”. Who’s in?

So cute! Thanks for the invite to pinterest – it is amazing!!
You’re very welcome, Stephanie. It’s a fun site for sure.
LOL. And I thought IIII had a flip flop problem. Mine are shoved in a basket 9 months out of the year. They’re scattered throughout the house the other 3 months.
I second the Pinterest invite thanks. I can see this turning into another addiction.
This is a great idea!
Very smart idea. I live in flip flops 9 months of the year in Arizona!
Great idea! just the other day my husband was throwing all my flip flops at me (something about them being all over the house, blah, blah, blah). I totally need to make these! I would love it if you shared this @ Workshop Wednesday!
CUTE idea!! I hung my boots with skirt hangers this past winter and felt so smart but now I have tons of flops out and hate that I can never find both when I’m in a hurry hah- love this idea!
