My best advice for the many issues that users are experiencing is to become a Pinteret Twitter Follower and Like them on Facebook. This is how I keep up with updates, maintenance and any technical issues/resolutions the site is publicizing. However, I am not able to answer technical questions about the sites performance or issues you are having with your account. I’ll be happy to answer any ‘how to’ questions you have in the comments section below. I will no longer be able to respond via email due to the volume of questions I receive. I’ve been using Pinterest for a few months now and have had some friends ask me questions about navigating the site. In case some of you have the same questions, I thought I’d answer them in a post.
If you have no idea what Pinterest is and want to know more, read this post.
To go to Pinterest, click here: http://www.pinterest.com/. Anyone can view the images. However, in order to create your own boards and pin images to those boards, you have to be a member. To become a member, you can request an invitation through their site or you can ask a current Pinterest member to send you an invitation.
Q: How do I create a new board?
A: On the top right menu bar, click [Add -> Add a board]. You can create your own board name such as ‘wedding ideas’, ‘party favors’, etc. Next choose the category the board fits into such as ‘wedding ideas’ would be categorized under the category ‘wedding + events’.

Next, you have the option to choose who can pin to your board. You can choose ‘just me’ or if you’d like multiple contributors, you can choose ‘multiple people’. Choosing ‘multiple people’ will require that you add the other
person(s) user name or email address.
Q: How do I ‘pin’ an image from the web onto a board?
A: There are a couple ways to do this. You can go to the menu bar at the top right of the Pinterest page and click [Add -> Add Pin]. From here, you can enter the URL of the website image and click ‘Pin it”.

Another option is to drag the ‘Pin it’ link to your browser toolbar or favorites. When you see an image you want to pin, from the image website, click on the ‘Pin it’ icon on your toolbar. All the images from that URL will appear in a new window, select the image you want to pin and a ‘Pin this’ button will appear. Once you click the button, you can add the pin to any of your boards.

You can also go to [People -> Tastemakers] to see some of the most followed members. You can choose to follow any of these listed members.
You may also choose find some interesting boards or members you’d like to follow at [Boards -> Staff Favorites]. Here, the Pinterest team has chosen some of their favorite boards. I’ve found some really interesting boards and ideas by looking at the staff favorites.
Q: How do I rearrange my boards so that my most frequently viewed are at the top (or any other arrangement)?
A: The pinterest staff has recently added this feature. Go to [Your user name -> Your Boards]. This should produce all of your boards. There is a ‘Rearrange’ button in the top right corner. Click that button, move your boards in the order you want, then click save. It’s as easy as that.

Q: How do I delete a pin or a board?
A: For either a board or a pin, you should see an ‘edit’ button when you hover over the image. Click ‘edit’ and then ‘delete (pin or board)’ in the new window that appears.

I do it one of two ways: and save it in a folder on your hard drive. Next go to your blog and upload the image into your post the same as you would any other image.

Just noticed this comment while trying to figure out something on Pinterest. If you’re going to use photos from Pinterest on a blog please credit the original photographer and ask permission before using.
How can you ask permission to use a photo found on Pinterest since there isn’t a way to contact Pinterest users. Unless they have ID’d the photographer on their pin, how else would you be able to find out?

Great tips. One other I’ve found to copy a picture is to go to the “embed” code when you click on the picture and then directly put it into your post using the HTML code and it will actually put the source code directly underneath the picture for you

Fabulous tip wrt Embed feature. I wanted to feature some images from one of my boards on my blog and this puts all the source code in automatically!

It can be challenging with Pinterest as it’s kind of social network, but kind of is not! But it is addicting and great simple place to get organized with your bookmarks!

I am wondering if I can join Pinterest without going through Facebook or Twitter? I have been invited by a friend (about a month ago), and I went to join, but it only gave me options to go throught FB or Twitter. I have a FB account, but I am concerned over security (my kids’ photos etc.) and I don’t have a Twitter account. Is there another way “in”?
You need either a facebook or twitter account to join Pinterest.
i just read on the pinterest help page that you can turn of the link between you fb page and pinterest. this is helpful since we dont really have control over what is shown on there and what is not!
I signed up with just my e-mail. If I want it on facebook I’ll put it there but I didn’t have to use it to join.
I was concerned as well. I just created the account and then went into my setting and clicked “unlink”. Hope this helps.
You can go to settings on pinterest . Then account settings. You will have the option to publish to Facebook or not. Just put that on off.
Hi-nice articile and I am off to follow you. I cannot find it so it may not exist yet-wanting to upload 20 pictures at one time from an album in my computer files. Don’t see a way to do that. Do you know some tricks I don’t?

You have to have a twitter or facebook account to sign up for Pinterest at this times.

You need a Facebook account to activate a Pinterest account; however, once you’ve signed up with Pinterest you can go to your Facebook application settings and delete the Pinterest app. Then just use your email for signing into pinterest in the future.
Not necessarily. You can log on to pinterest via your email address.
I created a FB account to join Pinterest, removed the link, then deactivated the FB account. My Pinterest account works perfectly. Hope this helps.
Do you know how to add pins without having to write a description? I’ve noticed that some people have managed to add pins without any descriptions and I have no idea how they do it.
.Is there something like a period {.} in their description? THat’s the only way I’ve found to get around a description. Let me know if you find another way. I’m curious.
You can just press the space bar, and the description requirements will be filled.

Hello, I joined pinterest today and I’m looking forward to adding pins, but it assigned all these boards for me to follow and I don’t want to I’d like to pick my own, I click unfollow on them but they never disappear, it’s driving me nuts! Please help me…

How are you going about clicking unfollow? Did you go to Boards -> Boards you follow, and click unfollow from there? Once you click ‘unfollow’ they may still appear on the boards you folow page but you should not get feeds from them any longer. Hope that helps.
I am having the same problem. None of the boards I follow are appearing, and all of those I have ‘unfollowed’ are still there with a follow button at the bottom. It is really irritating me. help!
I emailed Pinterest support about the issues you mentioned not being about to ‘unfollow’ boards. This was their reply:
This is a bug that’s affecting a few others as well. We’re working on the “Boards You Follow” page now and in the mean time, you do not need to try and Unfollow these users again. Your main feed should be displaying only the pins on boards you follow.

Add me to the swelling multitudes to can’t “unfollow” hordes of stuff I didn’t want to follow in the first place. When I see a grayed out unfollow box I click it, but it never has an effect.
My other huge frustration with the site is that is I click on something I want to know more about, then want to return to where I was, there’s no way I can ever find that page again. I click the Back on my browser and end up either at pages I saw days ago or at pages I’ve never seen before, but never at the page I was at.
I really enjoy the stuff on pinterest, the the needlessly complex, confusing, and overly precious process of trying to navigate makes the site essentially unusable.
I am having the same problem. Just joined, but Pinterest assigned me all these boards to follow (apparently from Twitter) that I did NOT pick and would not have.
There is no obvious way to Unfollow these willy-nilly boards; there is NOTHING in “Help” about it (it says you can Unfollow them — but doesn’t tell you HOW and there is no Unfollow button– there should be); and it’s spoiling my first experience of Pinterest.
Doesn’t it seem obvious that if I didn’t choose to follow a board, I should be able to unfollow it easily?
The navigation is also really confusing. There should be a Home button or Profile button on every page so you can find your way back. It’s quite hard to get around.
Everyone says they love Pinterest and I thought I would too, but trying to deal with these problems so far has not been fun. I want to start Pinterest with a clean slate but I can’t even do that: I can’t get rid of all these boards Pinterest has me following.

Hang in there. It was a little frustrating and hard to navigate when I first started, too. The learning curve takes about a week of just playing around and then it just ‘clicks’.
I am having the same problem. I joined and was having so much fun and all the sudden I got boards with porn on them in my feed. I cannot get rid of them. I have emailed the pinterest people, reported it, etc. and they are still there. They need a button to delete material on your feed you do not want there!
Click on the person’s name under the image. There will be a greyed out unfollow button (looks like you can’t click on it but you can). Click on it. You will no longer receive feeds from them. You can do the same if you only want to unfollow a particular board. Just click on the name of the board they have it pinned to (beside their name, under the image) and click unfollow.
We had this problem today as well. Clicked through to the person’s boards and showed that we had already unfollowed. I clicked on follow and immediately clicked on unfollow and everything disappeared from the feed. Hopefully it sticks this time!

have you heard about this issue happening again? i tried all those same things tonight and still have boards i dont want on my main page =(
I’ve tried so many times to get rid of a HUGE photography board. Don’t know how I started following it, but I can’t unfollow it. I even tried to unfollow everyone that I was following, and then adding back a few at a time. Now I only get the photography board!!!
That is strange! I haven’t experienced that so not sure how to help.
I am new to Pinterest and I have a problem. When I click on Your boards my boards come up. My latest board that I have pinned pictures up shows blank on this summary page of my boards. If I click on the board then the pictures do show up. Now this board I did not pin from the web, I uploaded from my computer. Did I miss a step?

Hi – I hope it’s not too late to post a comment/question regarding Pinterest (thanks for the tips!). I am a new Pinterest user/addict. Lately when I have tried pinning photos from some blogs, the pictures will not pin to my board. I will pin them, and it says they are pinning, but they don’t seem to go to my feed, and when I look at the board, there is only a little blue square with a question mark. It is clickable, but there is no photo. This has happened with several photos that I have tried to pin from blogs. Are some photos not “pinnable?” I’ve googled this, but had little luck finding an answer. Thanks for any info!

I attempted to upload a photo from my computer today. The first time I didn’t realize that putting the dollar sign in the comment area would cause a little flag with the amount up in the left hand top corner. So I deleted the pin and redid my upload and comment, leaving out the dollar signs. Now when I come back to Pinterest after being away, BOTH pins are appearing. I’ve tried deleting the offending pin from every place I can think of. It appears to delete, but is still there when I return to the “top” page, ie. the page that comes up when I click on the Pinterest symbol which is the same page that appears when I log back in. Can you recommend a fix or how to get help Thanks.

In case you haven’t figured it out yet or if someone else is looking for the answer…..
Click on the picture you want to move, it will enlarge in a separate pop up window and there will be an option to Edit it. Click on Edit and one of the options there is to change the board.
I’ve done this but then it posts to your main board again and I hate all the duplicates.
In case anyone is asking this question, here is an updated answer. “How to move Pins from one Board to another?” Just click on Edit, (you no longer have to open it first) click the PickList and choose the Board you want to move it to, click Save. This will move your pin and delete it from the original Board so there are no longer duplicates.

Brand new to pinterest- and loving it! I’m not sure how it happened, but I am now following a someone I don’t want to follow! How do I ‘un-follow’ them? I signed up just today and have apparently already made a rookie mistake… Help please!
@Jin – if you click on the “follow” button that is greyed out once you follow someone, it will un-follow them. (It doesn’t look like it will click, but it will.)
Does anyone know why a bunch of pics I’m seeing say “from None” at the top right, instead of linking to the site it came from?
is there a way to control who can follow YOU? i just wanted my account private and now i have random people following me and I don’t really like it, but there’s no buttons or settings that let me control or approve who can follow me. Kind of lame.

I don’t believe you can block people from following you. However, you can make certain boards private.

I’m new to Pinterest but I think I’m doing something wrong. When I go to repin something onto one of my boards, it only allows me to pin it to one board (and it seems random which board it directs me to). How can I repin to the board I want to?
Hi Ginger, You should be able to click on the boards to see a drop down of board options. Choose which board you want to pin to and select ‘pin it’.

I believe Pinterest has been having technical issue the past few days. I have experience similar issues. I just log out and log in at a later time and the problem seems to be corrected.

I have a question and I hope you can help. You know how when you click on a photo and to the left you see 2 boxes. One will be the board it is pinned to and the other will be also from *insert website here*. Why do some websites have an also from but others don’t. If you want to delete a ‘like’, you just follow the link (for example, where it says in your account ’5 Likes’). Now you’ll see all (in this case 5) pictures of websites/articles that you once chose to like. Just hover your mouse over the picture and you’ll notice the button ‘Liked’ (between ‘Repin’ and ‘Comment’). It’s greyed out. You only have to click on that button and see…. you only have 4 ‘Likes’ left
I have been playing with Pinterest for a couple months now and am at the point that I would like to create more boards to better catergorize my pins. I am currently at 15 boards, and yesterday tried to create 2 more, but they won’t show up. If I am on the “Pins” tab of my page, the “Boards” tab shows 17, but then when I click on the “Boards” tab, the total switches to 15 and the new ones do not show up. They also don’t appear in the drop down list when I try to repin/edit. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
I am now having the exact same problem. I have tried adding a board for three days now and it appears in my list of boards but when I try to pin to it it isn’t among the list.
Have you heard anything about this yet or have found any information? This is very frustrating.

How do i move pins that are on my board? I’d like to arrange them in order of what I like rather than the order pinned.
Hi Cindy – I know that there is a button to rearrange boards but I do not believe there is one to rearrange pins within a board. Could be an enhancement they are working on. I encourage folks to tweet the Pinterest staff or leave a message on their facebook page to get a timely response.

Great post! I wanted to ask – how do you move pins between boards? As I pin more, I add more boards to keep up with everything and all I’ve come up with to move the pins is repinning and deleting – there must be an easier way, no? Please let me know if you find out!
To move a pin from one board to another, hover over the pin and click on ‘edit’. You’ll see fields for Description, Link, Board, Delete. Click on the drop down beside Board and select the board you want to move the pin to. Then click, ‘save pin’.
I was successful at moving a pin to another board, as you outline above; however, I end up with it duplicated on the new board (and still on the old board). What did I do wrong?
Hi Christina – You ddn’t do anything wrong. You just need to open the pin in your old board and click edit. Then click delete.
I really don’t think that’s accurate. I followed your advice and it deleted it from both the old and new board. The old board pin copy behaves like it’s the new pin, showing it in the new board and everything. It just simply leaves a ghost copy behind in the original board. I have also discovered that if you delete the original board even after moving the pin to another board, the pin gets deleted. I had to re-pin 10 things this way. A month ago I was able to move pins just fine, no ghosts left behind, so this is a new glitch of sorts.
I did this and as another commented posted, it deletes both pins (from the original and old board) So irritating! I hope they get the problem resolved soon so I can do some much needed board decluttering.

I was wondering how you get the 5 pins to show up next to your name/photo? For example, when you look at the list of who so-and-so follows, some people have no pins next to their name with the button to hit for follow but some have 5 pins. I don’t see anywhere under edit profile or anywhere else to choose pins.

I am having problems loading the Pinterest page on my desktop computer. I don’t have any problems on my laptop, and all my other websites are working except Pinterest. All the links (Add, About, Help, Pin It Button, Invite Friends, Logout, etc.) are listed down the left side of the page in a Times New Roman-ish font, and I am unable to click on a lot of the links. What is going on? Do I need to change my security settings? I’m confused because the site works on my other computers and all other sites are working. Please help! I’m having pin withdrawls!

I have been saving my favorite things to “likes” to find them later. I have 22 likes, but the screen only shows 7 pictures. I can continue to add likes, the likes number keeps growing, but I can’t view them…any thoughts?

But when i log in on the computer it shows me the amount of pins i have but the images don’t match up but yet on the iphone app most of the repinned images are there and match the # that appears on pinterest when i am logged on from a computer….Anyone have an answer for this yet? Donna, I am having the same problem with my boards. I repinned several things to my boards on my iPhone app and they all appear correct there. However, when I access Pinterest via my iPad (just the mobile site, not the app), none of the new pins added on my iPhone app appear on my boards but they do all appear with the description that I added in my main feed. So frustrating! I tried logging out of both devices but that didn’t change anything.
I’m having the same issues! Was just trying to do a google search to see if there were any answers and found this! The repinned images all show up on my iPhone, but nothing shows up on my boards on the computer – even though the number says there are more. Frustrating. I just sent a message to their “bugs” email address, we’ll see if I get a reply…

Hi Katie – You should be able to click on ‘likes’ under your name in the top right hand corner. However, it doesn’t appear to be working at the moment.
Katie, I am having the same issue. I have over 1,000 likes… I know, way too many… However, I can only view a fraction of them as well. It too is driving me nuts. I tend to click like when browsing on the app and then later go through them and pin what I am really interested in but, as I was trying to find something I know I “liked” a few months back I cannot view it. It only shows me a fraction of my well collected many likes.

When you sign up you have to use FB or twitter, however once set up go into settings and click on the “Link to Facebook/Twitter” box and it will unlink you. I love pinterest! I’ve been pinning up a storm, but I am very discouraged by a bug that may or may not be going on. One of my boards photos are completely gone! It says in total my pins are 149, which would include the deleted photos, because when I count the boards they do not add up to that. How do I get them back? Hi Lu – The best way to reach them is to comment on their Facebook or Twitter. I would also suggest following them on Twitter and Facebook. They provide updates (such as server issues, maintenance, etc) on those accounts frequently. That’s how I get the scoop on what’s going on with them.

The same thing happened to me when I was trying to set up my blog Facebook account. Unfortunately, I had to create a new email account and use the new one. I don’t know of any other option.

Hi Pauline – click the edit button on the pin you want to move and then click the drop down beside ‘boards’. Select the board you want to move the pin to and then save.
I made a board on pinterest for just recipes, but every time I go to pin something to it, it’s not on the list of possible boards. so i go to re-create the board, and it tells me that i “already have a board with that name.” Help??
Sounds like a technical issue. Try posting a message to their twitter or facebook accounts.
Or you may need to refresh the page you are viewing if you created the board on another page. Use F5 on your keyboard or hit the refresh button in your browser. Then, any newly created boards will appear.
I’ve had this happen too; I wonder if some/a lot of these problems have something to do with the browser you’re using too. I’ve noticed that Firefox has the AWESOME ability to go straight to a board on my drop down list when I start typing it that Chrome does not.
When your issue has happened to me I just close out and reopen Pinterest; I’ll try the refresh next time. I just hate losing my place “(

The only way to move a ‘liked’ pin to a board is to ‘repin’ it to one of you boards. There should be a ‘repin’ button in the top left corner of your ‘liked’ image. Click that then repin to one of your boards.

Could you please answer a few questions for me:
1. When i click on my “Followers” and “Following” list, the stated number of people in the category do not match up to the list — ie. it’ll read “5 Followers” but when I click on it, there are only 3 people listed. Where are the other 2?
2. Why am I “Following” myself? When I go to “unfollow” myself, it isn’t an option. When I log in, whatever I’ve most recently pinned shows up again… I really want to see other people’s pins for ideas. How do I do that?
3. How do I find general boards or new people to follow? There used to be a “People” category in the header, but that seems to have disappeared. What am I missing?

Hi Debbi – I’ll try to answer the best I can. Maybe others could weigh in as well or you could contact Pinterest (see the top of this post for contact info).
1. Sounds like a technical issue and Pinterest would have to resolve.
2. If you are following others, you should be able to see their pins when you are at the ‘pinners you follow’ page. It will also show your most recent pins but if you are following others, then you should see their pins. Maybe you should follow more people so you can see more pins???
3. Click on your name in the top right of the screen and then ‘find friends’. There is a list of ‘Friends on Pinterest’. You can select any of those to follow. You can also go to the ‘everything’ board and click on any pin and select the name of the person that pinned that pin. That will take you to all of their boards and you can decide if you would like to follow them or not by selecting the ‘follow’ button under their name.

Hi Andrea – Yes, anyone can leave a comment on a pin. If you have checked that option on your profile to receive messages about comments, you will receive an email. When you click on the link in the email, it should take you to that pin and you can read the comment someone left. If you want to reply, leave a comment under their comment.

when I got to press the repin button, it just takes me to the top of the page. I can not pin to my board. Any suggestions?
When I click on some people, it shows that they have like 5 different boards, but not a single pin (when I know that isn’t possible, considering who the person is)…is there a way to make your pins not visible to those that aren’t following you?

The photos for my pins from etsy.com haven’t been showing up for about a week now. Every time I try to post something that is on etsy.com, the photo doesn’t show up. The only way I’ve found around it is to save the photo and upload it straight to pinterest, which is aggravating.
I’ve had the same problem tryig to pin images from certain websites but haven’t noticed it to be Etsy in particular. I’ll test it and see if I have the same trouble.
I have to constantly select “Follow” on the same people over and over again, why doesn’t it save it? I will either click “Follow All” or I click “Follow” by each name but when I get out of the Find Friends page and go back in all of the same people are there again to select to follow, why are they not getting added to the “friends I am already following”?

I’ve been googling for info about pinterest for awhile..glad I found this! I’ve noticed a lot of bugs since I’ve been an active member, which makes the experience a little different than when I was just browsing while waiting for my invite. I assume there is a lot of maintenance and upkeep for a site that is so popular so fast so I overlook most problems BUT I do have to ask if anyone else is having trouble with being logged off- A LOT?! Jennifer – What do you mean logged off? Does that mean you have to log in everytime you return to the site? If so, I’ve experienced that a few times but I wouldn’t say it’s a recurring problem for me.

This is a great, informative post – thank you! I’d like to add something I just discovered: while you can easily add a Pinterest Follow Me button to a WordPress.com blog, it’s not yet possible to add the Pinterest share button (the one that allows visitors to your blog to share your posts on Pinterest) because of the Javascript in the HTML coding. There’s no work-around for this issue, but tons of WordPress.com bloggers are in the forums asking for this share button. WordPress is terrific at trying hard (and fast!) to accommodate blogger requests, so I’ll bet they’ll allow us this share button soon enough. As it stands now however, the only way for visitors to share your posts is by logging into their Pinterest account & pinning your post to their boards from there (or using the Pin It bookmark in their toolbar, if they have it). I have been on pinterest for a few months now, and have well over 100 pins, however under my “pins” it only shows the most recent 25 pins. So my pins show up in my boards but not in my general “pins” section. Does anyone know how to correct this? Thanks

There is a new Pin It app for the iPhone… type in Pinterest in the App Store and it should be the second choice that pops up. It is brand new and has no stars so far. I downloaded it last night. I have yet to see if it works.

Can’t figure out what’s up … sometimes when I upload from my computer archives it appears on the board as a blue question marked within a box. Does it have something to do with not having a link attatched to it? Have tried deleting the offending image, gone back into my library and tried to repin again … same thing. When you click on the question mark it will bring up the image on the chosen board … but when I’m viewing my boards all together I’d like to be able to tell what I’ve already uploaded, so that I don’t keep repeating the same pin. Hi Darlene – To delete a board, go to your boards and click the ‘edit’ button at the bottom your board. This will open an edit board window. Select ‘Delete Board’. This should remove the board.

Me too! I’m so frustrated. I’ve uploaded 12 images and only 1 of them has the actual image on the board. I and others have to click on the words “photo of a pin” to actually see the single images. But, the board looks really unattractive with just words. The images all belong to me, taken by myself. I’ve tried to pin them directly from my blog and also uploading them directly from my computer. No luck!
Hi Zoe – I’m not sure what the issue is. I am able to pin things from my blog and my husband was able to upload images from the computer to his account today. Did you resize your images so they aren’t so large?
I was wondering if anyone knew why the pins I post straight from my computer (things I have done myself not stealing credit) show up as an unloadable picture. It will complete the pin but when I look at it the picture is an empty box with a blue x…please help this is really irritating!

I received an e-mail telling me that my “Outdoor Space” pinboard was categorized by (a stranger to me) as belonging to “Outdoors”. There was a link for me to change it. Categorizing boards is a way of making sure boards are assigned to the correct category so that when someone searches in a particular category, your board will show up. When you create a board, you have the ability to choose a category. If you don’t, others can categorize it for you. If you don’t like the category they choose, you can go to your board and click ‘edit’. Then choose the category you would like. It doesn’t bother me when others categorize my boards because I don’t always remember to do it when I create a new board. I know that by having the board categorized, it helps more people be able to find it when they search by category.

I am trying to change the title of a board. I fill in the space for the new title and then I need to scroll down a list to “Select a category” (Art, Beauty, Products, etc) I click on the category that my board fits, and it always says “Category invalid”.. I’ve tried every category, and it is preventing me from changing the name of my board.
Weird! I just tried the same thing to see if it happens to me and it did! Sounds like a bug/coding issue on their end. I’m sending them an email to bugs@pinterest.com.

I’ve wondered about this same thing myseld and unfortunatley, don’t have an answer on how to get back to that exact rotation of pictures. My suggestions (and what I do) is if there is a particular image I am interested in, I copy or write down the description so that I can do a searh on that exact description to locate the pin I am interested.
Thanks for your input! I have copied exact descriptions, but sometimes even that gets tedious and time consuming. It’s such a weird glitch…one I hope they fix! Again, thanks for your time.
What I do is open a new tab and use that to sign in. Once you are signed in you can close this tab. Then I navigate to the original page, and right click on each pin I want to repin opening it in a new tab. Then refresh the pin you want to repin and you should be logged in on that page and can repin to your hearts content. It seems tedious, but I like the full on window for writing a description.
It shows that I only have 14 followers, but when I click there to see who my followers are, I have over 50. Anybody know why it’s not showing correctly on my board and if there’s any way to fix it?

Just sent you an invitation. I think you should receive an invitation pretty quickly after someone invites you (within a day). To my knowledge there is no limitation on the number of invitations you can give. I’ve been giving them out for about 6 months and haven’t reached a max.

Great question, Anita. When you click the repin button, a new windo opens. In the bottom right of the window is a check box for Facebook. Click that check box. In the comment section, type “@your friend’s name” (example: @Joe Shmoe) as it appears on Facebook and your comment. When your pin posts to facebook, your friend should be tagged and receive a notification.

Yes, you can pin something on someone else’s board or vice versa. They will need to select the board they would like for you to pin to and click ‘edit board’. This will open a second window. Where it reads ‘who can pin?’, it is defaulted to ‘just me’. Have your sister select ‘me + contributors’. When she selected ‘me + contributors’ a new field will appear that read ‘name’. She needs to type in your Pinterest User Name. Then click ‘save settings’.

Hi am am wondering why i can’t find my pins when i search for a specific thing ie “black bottom pie”. I created that pin and many others but I can’t find them when i search. I noticed this when i was trying to figure out why my pins aren’t being re pinned very often. Am I not using pinterest correctly?
I’m not sure why you can’t find your pins when you search by key word or description. However, to find images that others have pinned from your website or have upload, go to this URL: http://pinterest/source/yourblogname (example for me: http://pinterest.com/source/theweekendhomemaker.com/)

I pinned some items to the wrong boards in my Pinterest. How can I move them between my boards?
Hi Gwen, Find the image you want to move and click edit. Find the ‘Boards’ field and use the drop down menu to select the board you would like to move your pin to. Then press ‘save pin’.
First of all, I think it’s great the depth you have gone to try to answer people’s questions. I only wish the actual site at Pinterest was that easy. There support is TERRIBLE!! I do not care how “busy” they are. If you do not help people, they get turned off-Period! Customer Service is very key. I have heard that they are going through growing pains- well with these “pains” they are going to lose “Pingers”. I signed up recently- what a to do that was! Now I can’t Pin anything! I can see everyone elses things and I can Like thngs, but I can’t actually do anything. I have read it could be to do with the fact I use Explorer- to me thats a cop out! So, until they can better deal with issues I am NOT a fan so far. I want to be- don’t get me wrong- but my frustrations with the site have left me feeling flat! Just being honest! Any idea on how to unlink everything I post on Pinterest from getting posted to Facebook? Every time I go to the settings page and click on the box to not connect the two, it doesn’t work. It goes right back to sharing everything on Facebook. I have emailed Pinterest a few weeks ago and have heard nothing.

Hi Crystal – I had a question for you. I’m setting up a page for my work on my travel inspirations, separate from my personal pinterest account. I sent the “invite” request to my work address. I accidently signed in to my facebook using my personal and now I don’t know how to link it to my work facebook instead. Any thoughts on how to correct this? Thanks!

I’m not 100% sure but you may need to de-activate your ‘work’ pinterest account and then sign back up again using your work facebook (is that what you were trying to do – did I get that right??) After you de-activate, let me know if you need me to send you another invitation.
Hi Crystal – thanks for responding back! I can get to the login screen now. I signed with the correct email address (and facebook account). On the last screen where I enter the username/password/etc. when I hit submit it does to a ’404 error’ message and says that the page cannot be found. Then, I cannot login because I haven’t completed this final setup.
Is something going on with Pinterest today? Or should something that I did cause this error message?

I joined Pinterest about 2 months ago and absolutely love it. I like to sit in bed with my iPad browsing boards before I go to bed. But the last few days it has been giving me problems. I’m only able to see two boards after I do a search. Anyone else having this issue or ok’d help. It works fine on my iPad but not on my iPad or main computer like it was before.

I’ve noticed the same problem lately. It sounds like a technical issue. I’ve sent an email to bugs@pinterest.com.
I’ve also noticed this issue. Searches containing specific keywords from my pin’s description are not returning my pins.
I am having the same exact problem and it’s very frustrating. I emailed Pinterest 4 times about it and still haven’t heard back from them. Hopefully someone can figure this out soon!

Crystal – You are so helpful! I just signed up for Pinterest (thru Twitter) and am unable to find anyone. I am searching for their Pinterest username, Facebook name, Twitter name…it’s impossible. I have done it through the general Pinterest Search Engine (both boards & people). I also go into account -> find friends. It takes me to Facebook which I do not have because I am completely anti. There are no other options to find friends. The help on Pinterest is virtually non-existant. Also – my sister tried for over an hour today to find me (via the same search methods) to no avail. Do you know how I can find people I know are on there? Your help is much appreciated!!
You can find friends (or aquaintances) if you are friends with them on Facebook. Since you don’t have a Facebook account, you would need to know their Pinterest user name. For example, my Pinterest user name is weekendhomie and my Pinterest boards are located at https://pinterest.com/weekendhomie/. So if you know their Pinterest user name, you can use the url and replace my user name with theirs. Other than knowing their Pinterest username or Facebook, I don’t know of another way to search and find people.

Is anyone else have a problem deleting a pinterest account? When I click the delete button it just takes me back to the top of the page and does not delete the account. I hate that there is no pricavy on pinterest. Anyone can follow you and see your followers.

WOW! Lots and Lots of Info! I tried to look for the answer before asking this, but didn’t see it…is there a way to block someone from following you? I have a few ppl that are following me that I would really like to remove from my followers. Is that possible?
Unfortunately, the answer is no, you can not block someone from following you at this time. I don’t know if it might be a feature that Pinterest adds in the future. It would be nice.
How do I view ALL of my followers? By clicking the followers button above my profile picture, I only get to see about 50 or so and not all of them, I hope you have some advise!!

hmmm.. not sure that is possible. Best bet may be to take a screen shot and crop out anything you don’t want, only leaving the board. You could then hyperlink to your actual board.

I accidentally unmarked the facebook box in my settings and now it won’t let me log in. If i try with and email and password it says not found. And if i try with facebook it says create an account. What is the best way to fix this? I have emailed pinterest but no response. Thank you!
Oh no! I think you may have to create a new account if it is not recognizing your email/password. I would create a new acct using facebook and see if it pulls up your old boards.
how do i get my pin that I uploaded to show up in the DIY & Crafts section? When I upload it, it seems like only my friends and followers can see it! How do I get it to show up for everyone to see!? Or maybe it is and I’m just missing something! I love making crafts and things for the home and would love to post my ideas!

Open your board that you have pinned the pin to. At the top of the board, click ‘edit board’. Select the category that you want the pins in this board to show up on (such as DIY & Crafts). This is called categorizing a board.
I am a member of pinterest but I do not have a ‘pin it’ on my tool bar… when I find a website and add it to my border, even putting in the url it does not go to that website…. help, what am I doing wrong and why don’t I have a ‘pin it’ anywhere on my toolbar? Go to your profile on pinterest and select ‘settings’. Be sure the box is checked for ‘link to facebook’. When you repin a pin, check the ‘facebook’ box to make sure the pin is shared on facebook. Hi Kathi – I haven’t experience these issues. Hopefully they’ll figure it out!
Oops – I just re-read your question. I don’t think there is any way that you can ensure you see your friends pins on Facebook. That depends on whether your friends choose to share their pins on facebook.

Just curious, been using Pinterest for a while now, and just recently I noticed that when you go to pin something, there is a number next to the pin it button. I was wondering if you knew what that number meant. I notice when I change the description of the pin, the number changes. It’s usually a number in the 400′s but I don’t understand what it’s purpose is. For instance today when I started deleting the description that someone else had saved the numbers started going up. Would love to be enlightened!

I have never paid that number any attention until reading your comment. My first thought was perhaps that is the number of times it has been repinned, but when I started changing the description, the number went down. I have no clue what it means – anyone else know??
I believe it’s the number of characters available for the description. I think it starts with 500. If you type anything, it shows how many characters you have left.

It is the number of allowed characters remaining. You can only have 500 characters in the description, so the number starts at 500 (when you have nothing in the description) and counts down towards 0 to let you know how many characters you have remaining.

I’ve been having a problem with Pinterest, and after emailing support 4 times over the last 3 months and receiving no response I’m looking for help elsewhere. It’s showing that I am following 2 and have -2 followers (yes, that’s right- NEGATIVE two followers). I really don’t care what my numbers are, but the people I follow don’t show up on my home page unless I go directly to their boards and I think the problems are linked. Do you have any idea what the problem might be and how I can fix it? I would greatly appreciate any help. The customer service at Pinterest is horrible!

Yikes! That is odd to have negative followers. I’v never heard of that and unfortunately, have no idea how to resolve. Have you tried posting your issue on their twitter or facebook page? You may get a response from them or from someone else who has had the same issue.
No, I don’t use FB and only signed up for twitter to get a Pinterest account. Hopefully they will work out whatever kinks are causing this to happen, and in the mean time I’ll just deal with it. Thanks for replying! : )

I do not know how to see who is following a particular board. Unlike your total follower number, the number of followers for each board is not a clickable link. Most likely, whoever is following your boards is a subset of your total followers.

It shouldn’t affect your followers if you are just moving pins to a different board. However, if you delete a board, it could affect the number of followers you have. Check the number of followers on the board you want to delete. Is it greater than the number of total followers you have, or less than. If it’s less than, chances are it is a subset of your total followers (meaning people have mostly selected to follow all of your boards and not just that board in particular). You shouldn’t lose many total followers if the number of followers on your board is less than your total followers.

Yikes – I’m not sure that you can restore a board once it has been deleted. Are you sure you deleted it? Maybe your computer is just taking a while to load all of your boards.

Not knowing what you’ve already tried, here is my recommendation: You should be able to find your friend if you are friends with each other on Facebook by going to your login at the top right of the screen. When you click on your profile name, a drop down box should appear. Click on ‘find friends’. You should see two columns of people. The first column is people who you are friends with on facebook that are NOT members of Pinterest. The second column is a list of people who you are friends with on Facebook and who are on Pinterest, but you are not yet following. Search through the second column to find your friend. Then click ‘follow’.

I’m not sure why you’re not able to upload if you have been able to do so in the past. Is the image that is giving you the error, larger in size than the others you uploaded? Maybe try compressing the file to see if that would work. As for the 500, another reader just found this out and shared it with me the other day (thanks, Deborah!). That is the number of characters allowed in the decription. As you type in characters, the number decreases to let you know how many allowable characters you have remaining.

Hi Chrystal! Late to the party, but I’m hoping you may have some insight here, as I am not on Facebook and can’t post any questions I may have there. Anyway, I got all excited last night because something I pinned just “took off” (I know, I need a life…) Within a few minutes it had been repinned close to 250 times and liked over 70 times. This morning, the number of repins is down to 73 and the likes are at 20-something. Have you encountered anything like that before – do you suppose it’s just a glitch? LOL. No apology necessary. I’ve seen it spelled every way possible. Multiple people can see it and pin it so depending on which pin you are looking at, the numbers may appear differently. Is this a pin from your blog, and image you uploaded or something you re-pinned?

If you click on a picture on someones board, how do you get back to where you were without hitting the back button. There is no “x” to close out the picture you are viewing, nor are there any links to click to take you where you want to go. Is the only the back button? thanks!!!

I believe there is a tech issue with the app. Unfortunatley, only Pinterest can solve that.

To pin to someone else’s board, they have to give you ‘rights’ by making it a group board and add your name as a contributor. There is nothing you can do unless they give you those rights.
Okay – I have another question!
As of last night, I cannot see anything – none of my boards, none of those that I follow, nothing in “Everything”, nor any of the specific boards.
This is occurring on Google Chrome and on IE9, but not on my EVO 4G.

Since approximately Feb 8 I no longer can pin on my iPhone and have the pin link to the web site. It says uploaded by user. On another blog I read that other pinners are having the same problem. I emailed pinterest help but no response …. I called apple and they said it sounds like a problem with the app… Does anyone know about this problem and hopefully when will it be corrected?

You can only see the total number of people following you, not individual boards. Go to your boards and click the clickable link that is your total number of followers to see all of the people who are following you.
Im having a problem while uploading my images to pinterest…They seem to loose a lot of color and become very washed out, this does not happen when I upload them to facebook, so I am wondering what is the best file to use when uploading images to pinterest, I could really use some advice!!!!!!!

I’ve been on Pinterest for about a week now and was just wondering how some people have like 78 followers with like 2 pins??? When opening an account do followers get pulled from your Twitter and FB accounts??? Just wondering!!!
I believe when new members sign up, Pinterest recommends people to follow. I’m not sure how or who they try to match up, maybe there is some sort of Facebook or geographic connection – not sure.

Hi Crystal, thanks for all the help with Pinterest. we are not able to get our pins onto our Facebook timeline. We have all the settings correct in Pinterest and we see that Pinterest is installed on FB. When we pin, there is a checkbox for Twitter, which works fine, but no box for Facebook. Any ideas? We’ve tweeted Pinterest to try and get support but not luck.
I just linked Pinterest to Facebook timeline (your comment reminded me that I hadn’t done that yet – so thanks!). Then I re-pinned something on Pinterest. There was no check box for Facebook (like I’ve seen previously). However, when I checeked my Facebook, the pin appeared under ‘recent activity’. Try again and then check your facebook timeline under recent activity.

Hello. I just started using Pinterest last week, but i already have a problem with my account. :\ At first I was confused about how to set up my profile, so i signed up using my facebook and added a personal email and password. That account automatically added/ followed all my Facebook friends that had Pinterest. However i’m not exactly sure what i did, but when i logged off and tried to log back on, Pinterest asked me to log in and input my email and a password (as if i were creating a new account. I followed the directions and appears that now i have another account (with a different user name). I’m quite positive that i signed up with the same email and password (but with a different username than my first account), and this new account that i made allowed me to follow facebook friends that i choose to follow. Now i have two accounts, but i would like to delete my first account. I have no idea how to log on to my first account because the email and password i signed up with only leads me to me second account. I know for a fact that my first account is still active because I can check through other friends’ pinterest that they are following my first account. I hope this makes sense and I’m hoping that someone has an answer to this complicated problem. :\
Have you tried the option: Log in with Facebook, instead of logging in with a user name and password?

that’s a personal choice. If you have a blog or business you would like to promote, you may not want to hide pinterest from search engines in order to drive traffic to your sites. If you use pinterest for personal use, you may prefer to hide your pins/boards for privacy reasons.

I want to unfollow everyone (due to the suggested followers that are automatically done when you sign up) but even though I have clicked to their profile and then clicked to unfollow them, the images are still showing up on the “images from pinners you follow” board. Annoying!
Also, it seems Pinterest has had an upgarde, and there is no list fto see who you follow, or who follows you. I manually typed in http://pinterest.com/yoyvie/following/ which takes you to what looks like the old place that you could see the list, which is now unavailable.
How can I see who I am following?
Unfortunately, I don’t know of a list of people you follow. I would have suggested what you did which was going to their profile and unfollowing. Sounds like that’s not working. Anyone have suggestions?

I have a question: I’ve gotten 6 “likes” on various individual pins, but on the top banner, it still shows zero likes. Is there something I need to do to make the Likes visible?
The ‘likes’ at the top the top of your boards (beside the number of followers and the number you are following) represents the number of pins you have liked. There is no representation for the total amount of likes you have received on a pin.

Do you know if there is an easy way to see comments someone makes on your pins? I know that you can see it briefly in the “Recent Activity” area of the main screen. However if you missed it in that area, is there a way to retrieve it. Thanks!
Kim – you should get an email when someone comments on your pin if you have that chosen in your settings. go to Settings-> Notification->email settings. Then select what you want to receive emails for.

Yes, I’m not sure how Pinterest decides what should appear on the main pages but it does appear to change.

She will have to make sure that she chooses ‘me + contributors’ under ‘who can pin’ on her board(s). Once she does that, her board should appear as one of your boards and you can then pin to it.

Elle – Click on edit board. THere is a drop down menu for ‘Category’. Choose the category you want to label the board and click ‘save’.

No, you have to repin in order to move a pin from one board to another.
Yes, you can edit your pins and that way change the board.

I was moving items from ‘likes’ to my boards and removing from the likes. Pinterest said I had reached my rate limit. I logged out of my account and have tried repeatedly since to login again. I am new to pinterest…just trying to figure it out! Sometimes I will google pinterest to get to the site. When the site opens, I always see several things that I would love to pin. Of course I can’t pin them, because I am not logged in yet. When I go to log in, I can’t find them! I search what I think they may be listed under…but to no avail! Yes, that is frustraing. Try pinning the pin even though you are not logged in. Once you try to repin, it will ask for your log in info.
How can you tell who is following your indiviual boards. I’m new to pinterest and I only have a couple followers but it says I have more people following my boards

Amit – To my knowledge, there is not an approval filter. You choose the people you want to contribute, so if you don’t invite them to be a contributor to the board, then they can’t add anything. Yes, you can go to the board, click edit and remove them from the list of contributors.

Hi Cheryl – To be able to pin on someone else’s board, they have to set you up as a contributor to their board. The owner of the board will need to go to the board and click ‘edit board’. Beside ‘who can pin’, they’ll need to select ‘Me + Contributors’ and add your Pinterest username. Hope this helps!

I’m having the same problem as Elle(on March 7th) and Kira(on March 10th) I will pin something and see it on my board just fine, but when I go to DIY/Crafts it’s not there or one pin will show up and then the rest of my pins just go to my personal board. I have my boards set up to go to specific categories. It’s almost like Pinterest let’s only one of your pins to go to the main site and all the other pins for the day just go to your board. I sent an email to Pinterest over a week ago and still have no answer. Today I pinned a wreath I made (1st pin of the day) and it never showed up on DIY/CRAFTS. Very frustrating when you want other people to see your pins not just your followers. Have you experienced this problem? Thanks!

Also, I noticed some boards under the “everything” category like “science”, “geek”, “outdoors” and I would love it if I could pin things to those boards where those people would appreciate them, as opposed to most of the pins I see which are almost always jewellery, shoes, clothes etc. I’m basically wondering who/how many people are seeing my pins and how or if I can get my pins on a specific board where it will fit in. Hi Jill – The whole pinterest community can see your pins. Go to the board you want to categorize and click ‘edit’, choose the category you would like your board to be in and click save. You can’t pin on others boards unless they asign you as a contributor.

you will need to categorize the whole board that the pin is in as ‘food & drink’. In your pin’s description use a hashtag in front of the word people might search on (ie #macaron).

I’m experiencing some issues when trying to link my pins to my Facebook timeline, my account is linked, but my pins aren’t showing up, glitch maybe?
When you pin an image, is the Facebook box checked in the bottom right corner of the ‘pin it’ window?
I was looking for how to pin a picture from Pinterest to Facebook (not automatically every time as it floods my Facebook & I don’t necessarily want everyone on FB to see what I’m pinning; just when something is exceptional or I want to share it with a friend). I turned on the -sign on with FB- option and the option box is showing up now when I pin. Looks like it’s automatically checked though so it’s an extra step to un-check it; not too big of a deal unless you’re like me and pin 100 things a minute lol
When I click on a photo from my computer to upload it, a security warning box opens asking if I want to save this file or find a program online to open it. It is a .jpeg file- do you jnow why this is happening? The box says it is an unknown file type. Can you help me? Thanks
hmmm, you should be able to upload .jpg files. Try resaving the file as .jpg and see if you can upload.
I have already saved a ton of photo favorites over the past year from various sites on the web; is there a way to “pin” them from “My Documents” in WORD? (So I can delete and free up space on my PC.) Or can I not do that because it will not have a site to cite?
You can upload images from your pc. Click on the ‘Add +’ button at the top right corner of Pinterest, then click ‘upload a pin’, then click ‘browse’ and find the image on your pc to upload.
How come when i pin things i don’t see them on the pinterest homepage? i have my boards set up to there but they are not showing up.

When you say the homepage, do you mean the ‘Pinners you follow page’?
I emailed Pinterest about this but they never responded. If I leave a comment on someone’s post I then get 500 emails about the other people who have also commented. There has got to be a way to turn this off but I can’t figure it out.

I have a quick question. I wanted to pinterest some images on the Mens Apparel section. How can i do that? I tried to pinterest but it is showing only on my board and if i click home page i can see only my images and my following images.
You will have to categorize your board that contains the pin in the ‘mens apparel’ category. To make it easily searchable, use a hashtag # in your description (example #pinstripepants).
I’m new to pinterest and today I pinned a photo I took myself and placed it under my favorite billboards. I don’t have any followers but I’ve had 50+ people either repin it or say they liked it.
My question is, if they aren’t following me, how did they see it? Where would it be placed in the categories on the main page?

All pins appear on the ‘Everything’ board. There is an algorithm that determines what pins appear at the top and your pin must have been visible on the Everything board. Several people probably saw it and liked it and therefore it appeared on their boards where others saw it. Must have been a cool photo!
I’m having a problem uploading pins from my Kindle Fire. I click the image to upload and the circle just spins and spins. Everything was working fine until a couple of weeks ago, but now it is completely impossible. I have contacted Pinterest, but have not received a reply. Is anyone else having this problem?

I go to my page and there are no pictures of anything. Just the bar across the top but i can’t go into anything. If i unlog from the site and go to the pinterest site i can see pictures but as soon as i log in there is nothing.

Are you clicking on the link in the top right corner of the image? Clicking this link should take you to the source unless the image was upload from the pinners computer.
Has this problem been addressed yet? Moving a pin to another board? When I first started I only made one board and pinned everything to it…which was a mistake I know now. I really want to move things around to make it more organized. Can I do this yet?

My computer times out when I try to use the new feature “set board cover”. It worked for a while, now doesn’t. Is there anything I can do? This occurs on both my laptop and my desktop. Thanks.

The issue is that some of the pins are getting a lot of likes / repins whereas others are getting basically ignored and this doesn’t seem to make sense since. We’re wondering if there’s a limit to how many pins can be posted per day.

There is not a limit on how many pins can be posted. Pinterest has an algorithm that determines which pins appear at the top of the various category pages. However, I do not know what this algorithm is. Perhaps, your pins that have a lot of likes/repins are more visible at the top of those category pages.
Ok, so sometimes people comment on pins, and I think that the comments are completely unnecessary and to be frank, quite annoying. I’ve tried to figure out how to delete these, to no avail. It’s not like they’re rude or disrespectful, just sometimes…. odd. and distracting. For instance, this morning i pinned the word “discalceate” to my board “word of the week” with a definition (barefoot) and an image of bare feet. Then this random person commented “this is so sad” once, then “this is so sad to see”.
um, i’m sorry, what?
i’d like to delete that comment, along with a couple others that are just plain odd.

Do we see all of them or is there an algorithm to that? I wonder because I see people post on facebook that they have just pinned something, but I am not seeing those pins on Pinterest, even though I am following them.

Hello. I have a three-part question that I’m hoping someone can answer for me. I scrolled all through the questions, but didn’t see any reference to these, so I apologize if it’s repeated.
First, I have 21 boards on Pinterest, but when I do a search under Boards,none of mine come up. They have a fair amount of pins on each one, so I’m guessing that’s not the problem. Can you tell me why this is?
Second, only about half of my pins come up under search, so same question.
Finally, I realize that people may only follow certain boards, which each give the count of followers on them. However, under my full count of followers, it states it’s 14, but when I click on it 27 show up. That can’t be just followers to certain boards, because some boards show there are over 40 followers. Can someone address this as well?

Hi Vivi – I’m not sure why your boards aren’t showing. I would check back on again and see if you have the same problem because that sounds like a technical issue. For better search capability, be sure to use a hashtag and search term in your description (#keyword) so that you can search your pin. Your last question also seems like a technical issue.

I am trying to repin something and my the board I want is not showing. Alphabetically it would be my last board. I have tried everything (which isn’t much) to get that last one to show up. Any suggestions?

hello! i ve moved my boards once and now i want pinterest to rearrange my boards by the latest pin as it was at first, i have no idea how to do that
Once you’ve rearranged your boards, I’m not sure that you can go back to how it was before.
Can I delete someone who is following me? I’ve had a few that have linked inappropriate sites to their board and has brought me to inappropriate pages. How can I block them and/or at least disallow them to follow me?
Sounds like you don’t want to follow them, not the other way around. Just because someone is following you, doesn’t mean you see their boards. It just means that they see your boards. If you want to unfollow someone, click on their name under a pin they have recently pinned and click ‘unfollow all’.
Facebooks for freaks. There’s a lot of good stuff on the web but i can’t participate because of the Facebook take over of the web.
Can you look at things again once you’ve looked at them like a history sort of thing?
Hi Haley – I’m not sure I understand your question. If you pin something, you can look at the boards you pinned it on.

Up until this morning, if I was viewing a pin that I liked, for example a photo of a delicious looking food, I could double click on it and it would take me to the original internet post. Now it just takes me back to the Pinterest home page. Can you shed any light on this problem? Thanks so much!
Unfortunately, that sounds like a glitch. I’d check back in a few hours and see if that is still happening.

I am going through some old magazine tear outs of recipes so I can add them to Pinterest and throw away the physical paper. Some of the recipes don’t show a photo on the website (or sometimes the photo is on another web page). For a “spring onion sformato” I’d be happy to just attach a photo of spring onions. But it looks like I can only pin other non-related photos found on the site. Is there any way around this?

Not to my knowledge, when you are pinning from a site, it only accessing the images on the URL you are currently on.

Are you trying to post an image that you have uploaded to Pinterest or ar these repins? If they are pictures you have uploaded, try using a free photo editing software like picmonkey or ipiccy to resize your image.

Pinterest used to have a feature where you could check if someone mentioned you but that feature seems to be gone now. Anyone know anything about this? If it’s coming back? Or a different way to see who is mentioning you? I loved this feature but now it’s gone!

I’ve been commenting on pins I love, but my comments dissappear. The “tally” when you hover over a pin counts my comment, but I have no idea to view it. Also can’t see other peoples comments. Help!
I believe Pinterest truncates the comments if there are a certain amount. Have you opened the pin to see the comments or are you looking on the main page?
I just added Pinterest and when I try to drag the “Pin It” button to my bookmarks bar it wont let me, how can I fix it or is there another way to do it?
You can drag it to your favorites and access it from there.

Sorry Kathy, you have to pin to your boards which can then be categorized in order for a pin to show up in a certain category.

My question is, when I click on an individual board it tells me I have 4 followers. However I can’t see who those 4 followers are. Is there anyway to do this? I know 2 are friends of mine as I got a message saying that they were now followers, but I can’t click on “4 Followers” to see who the other two are.

You can only view your total followers but not who is following each board.

Hi Ilene – Yes, you can do that. Click on Add+ at the top of your Pinterest screen and then ‘upload a pin’. Search your computer for the image and select it to upload.

Or are you asking to remove people who are following you? If so, the answer is you can not remove people who are following you. However, as long as you are not following them, you shouldn’t see any of their pins.

I’ve had the same issue with my Ipad2!! Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. I haven’t figured out what makes it work.

to make the pin searchable, use hashtags (#) and keywords (example: #funny, #dog, etc). Also, check your board that you placed them on make sure it is categorized correctly.

I just noticed my followers are disappearing/dropping off. Last week I had 75 and at some point the number dropped down to 24. Then yesterday I had close to 78 and today I have 43. Pins are unlimited. But there is a limit of boards. You can have maximum 350 of own and unlimited count of that you are invited in.

I’m trying to upload an image from my pc. I go to the “add pin” area & click “upload a pin”, browse for the correct file & press upload. It then comes up with a prompt “to help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer”. It then gives you the option to “download file” which I click. Instead of uploading the image it keeps just bouncing back to my main pin board page. I have tried numerous times on numerous days with different pictures. I have even tried from my work PC. I have also read comments from other users who use different browsers to IE & they have the same issue. I have no problem adding pins from websites. I have contacted the Pinterest support page several times over the past 2 months with no reply. Any suggestions please??? Many thanks for your time.
Hi Therese – I just tested on my computer and didn’t have any issues. Perhaps it has to do with your security settings on you computer(s). Chaeck your settings to see if you have any added security measues that won’t allow you to download images.

If you want to receive comments, go to ‘settings’. Beside ‘notification’, select ‘change email settings’. Beside comments, choose ‘on’ when someone comments on your pin. By doing this, you will get an email each time someone comments on a pin. You can do the same for ‘likes’, repins, etc.

In the email you get from Pinterest, it should have the actual comment that the person left and a link to the pin they left it on. You can read the comment in your email or you can click on the link to the pin to see the pin and the comment beneath it. Hope that helps.

On one of my boards, there seems to be a pin that someone else added, even though I am the only one listed as being able to add pins. I am so frustrated with Pinterest. I found a bunch of spammers or someone who was not using it the correct way. I sent them the names and the reasons I suspected them. I received no response from them and they deleted the ones I told them about. I do not get emails from Pinterest telling me the people who have repinned, the ones who liked, or the comments from others..How am I supposed to return comments to someone I have no idea who it is???? Hi so im in love with pinterest….but im starting to get frustrated…Im trying to edit the names on my already created boards and as soon as i push the save button it wont save, it says that my category is invalid, and ive tried using every category, what am i doing wrong?
hmmm, I’m not sure. Maybe try it again at a later time. Sometimes they have temporary glitches that get fixed and work if you try them later.
Hi Crystal. We own and B&B and I’m trying to find out what determines if we are in the results when people search for our normal search terms, such as ‘bed and breakfast austin’. For now, if you search boards for this, you do not get our boards or even us as a person. I’ve submitted 3 requests to Pinterest on this with no reponse. I keep having boards appear on my pinterest that I didnt create. things like ” i love making money” “im the boss” or ” I love working at home” each with one pin which i havent clicked but is obviously spam. I delete them and one appears about every day. Is there a way to stop this? I dont like that it looks like I’m the one posting this stuff.

If it’s an isolated incident, I’d try again later. Sometimes, I experience technical issues but just try again later and it tends to work.

I’m having a problem when I go to my boards page my boards are blank but when I click on the board I can see all of my pins. Even when I go to my friends boards they are also blank but again I can click on the board & see all of the pins. I have emailed pinterest but not they have not been to helpful with this problem. I recently added a new board. It doesn’t show up for me at all – but now I can’t add any new boards – there is not the Create board option. The two pins I put in the board I thought I had went to an existing board. I did put an exclamation mark at the end – Get in Shape! did I inadvertently do something wrong? My husband and I both have Pinterest accounts. I even share one board with him, I wanted to share another but when I go to add him to the board it won’t even find him. He’s not in my list of FB friends from Pinterest, although we are FB friends. I don’t understand it. To try and search for him on the search he doesn’t show up either. When he logs in to Pinterest, he has the same issues with me. Every one else on my FB shows up BUT HIM and every other friend I have on Pinterest shows up BUT HIM.

I have a question about a problem my wife is having with Pinterest. She has a family member she does not get along with and the only contact she has had with her is an email a few months ago and has her blocked on Facebook. Yet the other day this family member got an email saying my wife in following her on Pinterest. My wife didnt follow her and this family memeber has such an obscure pinterest name she would never have been able to search for her. Any idea how this could happen? I just started using pinterest and i went to website and just clicked the login with facebook button and started pinning things to my created boards.
My question is when you login with your facebook can your followers or anyone for that matter can they see all of your facebook such as your post and pictures etc? I also have app on my phone as well. I checked my settings and i have logon with fb on and turned the published activity off and i have my search for my public profile turned off. Really interested if i need to open another fb just for pinterest because i dont share my fb info with strangers:) thanks

I was sent here from a search–looking for “Why don’t my pins show up when I use the search function in pinterest?” This list is so long, that I haven’t been able to find that particular question. I know it’s here somewhere, but I missed it.
For example, I have a board called “Candy Corn Projects.” One of the projects is my own, and it was pinned almost 2000 times from my site (quite a record for me). Yet, when I search “Candy Corn” on pinterest, it doesn’t show up at all. Is there a way to boost your rating somehow?

I would just like to make people aware that you should be careful when promoting your page as your username can get changed. I have just recently received an email from pinterest stating that they just changed mine so that they could use the url for there own services.

How do you pin more than one pin at the same time and make it look like one pin? I saw cool ideas for DIYing on the internet and i tried to pin all of the steps together but did’nt know how to. How do i delete an activity post. I clicked follow for someone and immediately clicked unfollow but it is still showing up on under my activity feed. I don’t want that to show up there but see no way to remove it. Unlike a pin there is no edit so I don’t know how to remove it.

I am a contributor on several group boards – but as these boards have grown there are now so many pins that it is really clogging up my feed.
I still want to be able to pin to these group boards but would like to unfollow the board so my feed is cleaner. Do you know of any way to do this. The only way I’ve found is to leave the group, which I would prefer not to do.

Hi, I am wondering if you can help me. Sometimes, when I click on the Pinterest website, it automatically log me in even after I log out a day or hours after. This happens alot. What do I do to stay logged out and only manually logged in? I don’t use my Facebook to log in. Thanks
How do I get get my pictures on my boards to be bigger? Everything I pin is the same size, no matter what aactual size they are on the web, and I see that there bigger pins everywhere else. How do I get a picture to be bigger or to show more detail?
why am i getting from pinterest that they had to remove one of my pics due to nudity? they showed me a pic of a naked pinup girl…i do not have any such boards …what is going on?i only have clean and good pictures…i went thru them all so i know what is on there…is someone pinning to my boards that i do not know about? help and thanks
Every time I pin or repin it shares with my followers & I was wondering how to unshare with my followers so they are not getting all my crazy pins every day??? plus I am cleaning out my board to catagorize all my pins so when I am repinning it is sending it again to my followers. Just seems redunant. Help*
When i’m looking through my pins and boards. It only shows me a fraction of the pins before it reaches the “bottom of the page” and won’t let me scroll down any farther even though I KNOW there are many more pins not showing!!
I am wondering how to move a pinterest board from one account to another. I have school boards on my personal account and want to move them to my professional teacher one.
I need pinterest help.Hopefully you or one of your followers can help.
Pinterest comes up but I am unable to pin anything or to click on the picture and go to the website. I can press the pin button but nothing happens. If I move the mouse over the picture only the little magnifying glass with plus sign in it shows up.
I’ve tried contacting pinterest and get no help at all.
Any assistance is GREATLY appreciated. I’m missing my pinterest.

I am new and wou.ld like to ask you why I can’t see my pins under “everything”? Do you have to list it under the listed categories in “everything” as I am putting it under my own categories in the boards. Thank you.
You go to the top right hand corner where it says your name (and has a picture, if you uploaded one) Click on your name,scroll down to boards, and look there. Often times my new pins do not come up under “everything” either.
