Inspired by our summer bucket list and a great blog called Counting Coconuts, we tried one of the ideas this weekend for a fun Saturday morning activity. I filled a plastic container with some toys and trinkets from the dollar store, filled the container with water, put it in the freezer over night, and handed the kids a hammer and their frozen treasure the next morning.
Anna reminded me how smart she is when she decided the hammer was too much work and she would just let her’s melt in the sun. Chase, on the other hand, took great pleasure pounding his way through the ice.
**Note** This obviously requires adult supervision. Goggles are a smart idea too since the ice tends to splinter.

This is such a cute idea! I’ll definitely have to pull this one out of my hat for my munchkins. They’d love it!
It a great way to get out all the kid angst…lol…
Great idea!
I would love for you to link it up to my party that is running now. Any linky goes.

Come strut your stuff.
Such a great/cheap idea, thanks! I’m totally trying this with my kids.
